Darwin’s World Champion Ice Hockey Club
The Darwin Ice Hockey Club is a living legend in the Northern Territory.
Established nearly 30 years ago, the team has challenged some of the most successful and powerful ice hockey teams in the world, and is proud to claim it is yet to be beaten.
Every Saturday, Darwin’s favourite sporting club gathers by the beach at East Point Reserve and waits for the likes of Sweden, Canada and Russia to answer their 'requests to contest'. And although the club is yet to encounter any rival ice hockey players on its sandy shore, its players and devoted fans are confident they can take on the best in the world.
Supported by VEGEMITE, and bound together by a strong tradition of camaraderie and mateship, the Club's members use the established pastime to make new friends and catch up with old mates, as they take in the picturesque surroundings and wait for their competitors to turn up.
VEGEMITE is proud to be toasting the Darwin Ice Hockey Club, and supporting the team as living proof that even the most unlikely group of Aussies can be World Champions if they put their mind and spirit to it!
